What does a guaranteed cash offer range mean?

Can my item be evaluated based on my appraisal?

No. Appraisals are mostly used to determine the "retail replacement value" of a diamond, gemstone or jewelry article, and this value determines the annual insurance premium of your stone or jewelry. The "retail replacement value" does not reflect the market value of your item.

How long are your offers valid for?

What can I do if my offer expired?

What type of jewelry does PJ Buyback buy?

We buy any loose diamonds, precious gemstones or jewelry as long as it contains at least one stone whose weight is at or above 0.30 carat.

Do you buy loose diamonds? Do you buy loose gemstones?

Yes. As long as they weigh at least 0.30 carat. In addition to diamonds, we accept loose precious gemstones that weigh at least 0.30 carat, including rubies, emeralds, sapphires, tanzanites, alexandrites, and tsavorites.

I want to sell the diamond or gemstone and keep the ring. Is that possible?

Yes, we would unmount your stone from the setting and send the setting back to you, free of charge.

Does my stone need to have certain grading reports to be eligible for an offer?

Not at all. Whether you have a grading report or not, our simple online submission process ensures that we get all the information we need to create an offer for you.

Do you accept jewelry from outside the US?

At this time, we only accept items from within the United States.

Are there any legal requirements for selling my diamond, gemstone or jewelry?

We operate in a highly regulated environment and have to abide by strict rules. You may need to be able to prove your identity via a valid ID or passport. We may also ask you to provide written consent that you are the sole possessor and valid owner of the item, and that you hold free and clear title to sell and release the item to us.

How does PJ Buyback come up with an offer?

Will I get paid for the precious metal that my stone(s) are set in?

Yes, the market value of your settings' precious metal and side stones will be calculated into the offer. However unlike diamonds and gemstones, the settings lose a significant portion of their value in the second-hand market. The price you paid for the setting was mostly driven by its design and labor costs, rather than the cost of metal and side stones. Should you want to keep the setting and sell us only your stone, we will unmount the diamond(s) and/or gemstone(s) and ship the setting back, free of charge.

I have a Gemological Institute of America (GIA) grading report for my stone, so what information do I need to provide in order to receive an offer?

Easy! All we need is the grading report number, carat weight of your diamond or gemstone, and a few details about your jewelry (however, old GIA grading reports may not be available for electronic retrieval, and we may need to receive your information manually).

What if I have a grading report, but not from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA)?

We can extend minimum guaranteed cash offers based on a wide range of grading reports. In some cases we would need you to ship your jewelry for evaluation before we provide you with a cash offer. PJ Buyback will send you a free, fully-insured shipping kit to ensure your jewelry arrives safely and securely at our evaluation center. We will return it to you, free of charge, in case you decide you'd rather have your jewelry back.

I don’t have any grading report. What should I do?

What if I don’t have a grading report and do not know my diamond or gemstone’s characteristics?

Not a problem. Our specialists will inspect your item, grade it, and prepare an offer. You just need to send your stone or jewelry to our DFW evaluation center (shipping and insurance are on us).

Is it safe to send my valuables with a courier?

Absolutely! We collaborate with FedEx and Brinks to ensure that our shipments are secure, fast, and fully insured to the minimum guaranteed offer amount.

Why do I need to send my item to PJ Buyback?

We need to inspect your item in order to verify that it matches the grading information you provided, to ensure that it is not damaged, and to accurately assess its value within the guaranteed range.

Do I need to pay for the shipment of my item to PJ Buyback?

Shipping is free with all US orders. We do not offer services outside of the US at this time.

How do I arrange the shipment of my stone or jewelry to PJ Buyback?

We do! Once you accept our minimum guaranteed offer, we will send you a shipping kit that includes the instructions and materials required to securely package your item. All you need to do is read the instructions, pack your stone or jewelry, use the pre-paid shipping label we provide you and drop off the package at the nearest FedEx location. You can also arrange for pickup from your desired location. Did we mention that it is all free?

How long does shipping take?

We use FedEx shipping services. Your gemstone or jewelry will arrive at our evaluation center one to two business days after you've shipped it.

Will I be able to track my shipment?

Yes. You will be able to track your shipment with FedEx, using the tracking number on the free, insured, shipping label we provide you.

Will my item be insured?

Yes. Your diamond, gemstone or jewelry will be insured to the full amount of our minimum guaranteed offer, as long as you use the prepaid shipping label we provided you.

How much is my item insured for?

The insurance will cover any damage or loss up to the full amount of our minimum guaranteed offer to you.

Does the coverage expire?

The insurance is valid as long as you ship your item out within five days of receiving our prepaid shipping label. Should you want to ship your item later than that, we would issue you a new shipping label.

How do I get paid?

We offer two simple payment methods: check and bank wire. If you're unclear about what option is best for you, don't hesitate to contact one of our customer care representatives to discuss each option.

When do I get paid?

We will issue a payment as soon as your item is inspected and approved by our specialists, usually within 1-2 business days of its arrival to our evaluation center. Where do I find my routing and bank account numbers?

You can contact your bank to ensure that you have the right numbers. Routing numbers for wire transfers may be different than the numbers that appear on your checks.

What happens at the PJ Buyback evaluation center once my diamond, gemstone or jewelry arrives?

Upon arrival to our DFW evaluation center, your item will be inspected by one of our highly-experienced diamond and jewelry specialists. Our process ensures that the item matches the information provided and that the item is not damaged beyond normal wear and tear.

Do you also grade the diamond or gemstone?

If your stone is not accompanied by a reputable grading report, we will grade it in order to come up with an offer.

Would you need to unmount my diamond or gemstone from its setting?

In the event that the setting doesn't allow us to inspect your item and your stone is not accompanied by a reputable grading report, we may have to unmount the stone to properly evaluate it. If so, we will request your permission to unmount the stone. Only after receiving your written consent will we unmount your stone.

Would I get a discount on if I sell my diamond to PJ Buyback?
